We don't need neighborhoods, do we? We wouldn't want CF turning in to gangland. I think it's fine the way it is. People can coordinate trail rides through PMs or in the Trail Talk section. C'mon guys, quit trying to be like those OTHER Cherokee guys. We've got a good thing going here.

You do have a point but i gotta say I do like the ease of finding local wheelers. May entice some more people to join also.

Where did this whole idea originate from Kyle. This is what is on NAXJA and there have been division as there becomes competition from areas that include prime wheelin' areas like Tellico and Moab with areas that are devoid of such spots. This has also caused some ppl there to think that their type of wheelin' is better than someone else in another area of the country. The division and eliteism there is one of the reasons that I and a few others are here. It certainly isn't the tech base as we are pretty low on the totem pole in that area. It is the quality of the ppl here that bind us together and this may divide us into factions. I would hate to see that happen. So think long and hard about this "Neighborhoods" before you commit us to the divisions that are likely to form.
Just my two cents worth. You can delete this if you so decide.

We on the other hand are not a club but an online community. People join here to talk about their vehicles, learn, and have a good time. If they can go wheeling with some of the people here that is a bonus. NAXJA is very different from what we are in that respect. If you look at JF, WF, and many of the other online forums for jeeps (not clubs) out there this neighborhood works very well by bringing people together. I have said it before and I will say it again, we are not NAXJA nor will we ever be.

My point is that the division will be a wedge that pulls our pretty close knit group apart. I, like a couple of others, see no real benefit to this as we can have a section that is a place to post notification of weekend, or longer, plans in and then if you can attend great. Any reason to compete by being in a different division is a unhealthy plan IMHO. I know I don't own or run this site but I have a lot of time and effort invested in a near perfect site and I would not want to see it tampered with if there exists the slightest chace of a break in closeness that we have towards CF. We kid each other and there is an air of open invitation out there now but if small groups start an elite group that group may not want to include an outsider. Again delete this if you like but I am opposed to the neighborhood idea b/c I fear that a division MAY occur.

This is something that I did when I started wf. I think you put way to much thought into how this is going to divide the forum. Most users will look at this as an additional area much like any others that we add, and nothing more. This isnt a separation, its another feature/area of the site where regional users can post up things happening in their region. Exactly as you propose above
but more structured than throwing a single forum up and calling it good. Not everything needs debated for the sake of debating.
The only reason this thread was even posted is because last time I did it I had a few members that said they would have rather been grouped with different areas because of where they travel/wheel. So we thought we would get some constructive input from this thread and we have.

Hope you are right Don as I have come to think of CF as a member of my family and I only want what is best for CF. I want it to thrive and prosper by the aqusition of increased membership and closer fraternization among those members just like a family.

I hate to see a division like NAXJA because it sucks, but a place on the board for people to post things that are happening there area is a good idea.

That, I whole heartedly agree with, but I see that as a subsection of Trail Talk, but lets see how Don's plan works out.

Thanks Kyle I don't think either of you would intentionally harm any part of CF but I can worry if there seems to be a schism in the works but Don explained it and I'm cool with it now. Just being over protective I guess!
No worries, it has worked countless times elsewhere NAXJA's way of doing it didnt work out too well.
