Xmas Day Wheelin!
Well since moving here to Utah we have been going wheelin on Xmas so we figured we would keep it going and make it a tradition. Today after opening presents we headed out to a remote undisclosed location near Arches NP to play in the snow. Those who have been to Arches will know where it is if they keep an eye out in the pics. The trail was not hard at all with really no ledges which was fine since there was a foot of snow on the ground.
The road to no where
An old mine along the way
Wide Open Spaces
Making Fresh Tracks
About 8/10ths of the way through the trail we came upon a pretty good sized ledge with a long hill above it which halted forward progress. I could have winched up it but nobody really felt like it since we were almost at the end anyway.
A very different viewpoint of a famous arch.
It was a beautiful sunny winter day so we decided we would go for a hike. We hiked to the end of the road on the park boundary then headed out for a distant peninsula of land on the horizon from where I hoped we would get an awesome view. I was right and we were rewarded with a great view of the canyon below.
The Lasal Mountains in the distance
After hanging around for a while enjoying the view we headed back.
Looking into Castle Valley... my home
It was fun plowing through the deep snow making clouds of white that sprayed up over the roof. I probably could have had some great jeep commercial shots if I had took the time to stop and take them.
