COS you may want to get real active first. The same group that just closed Telico is after Moab now..

Below is a post from GL with links for info about what's possible..

New bill just introduced: http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-s799/text

Proposed Wilderness area map:
http://www.suwa.org/site/DocServer/L...pdf?docID=1821

Looks like they're trying to close off most of Utah!

Story on Colorado4x4.org: http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=147497

Spread the word and write your Congressperson, even if you've never been to Moab!

Most of the land in that bill is already designated Wilderness Study, and closed to motorized travel. It will not affect the trails around Moab as much as some groups are making it sound.

I'm planning a trip for May of 2010.

Intrepid, dont you think you'll be bored of wheeling out that way and ready to move back east by then?

Hell no. There's decades worth of exploring in CO and UT alone!

you could do 99% of the trails in the Moab area. I don't understand why people think they need to have an extreme rig to go to Moab? There are very very few extreme trails.

A stock XJ could do a lot of trails around Moab....my first trip out there was with a 2" lift and 30's (no lockers).

Yep Randy is right... definitely bring your jeep, you will do fine. My dad has a stock Cherokee and he has done a bunch of trails around here. I am about 25 mins north of Moab so I would definitely be interested in meeting up with you guys and wheelin. By then I will have probably done most of the main trails around here lol
