First Trip After My New Locker: Prospect Mtn.
Just the other day I installed my new Aussie Locker for my rear 8.25 and hadn't had a chance to try it out on any actually difficult trails yet. So I decided to go to the only actually challenging trail within an hour of where I live, the ATV trail that winds up Prospect Mountain in Lake George NY.
I have been there twice before but only finished it once, and have never explored any of the side trails around it, I decided to get a look at what my new Aussie can do on the rocks and in light mud, and another big helper was my new found practice of actually airing my tires down, which I learned to do after tearing one open a few weeks ago while at full pressure.
The area lovingly named The Grand Canyon by me.
Meanwhile at the rear axle.
Some nice rough terrain, just the way I like it.
Some intense water fording, had to watch out for that hydrolock.
Hey, I couldn't resist the urge to try the natural articulation ramp, and yes that is my rear driver side tire off the ground thank you very much.
We even had picturesque views along the way, too bad I forgot the canoe.
The trip was definitely worth the hours drive. The problem is though I'm having to go farther and farther from home to find moderately challenging trails that I haven't done at least a dozen times and have gotten boring.
I'm hoping to maybe plan a couple day trip to Rausch Creek to try some more varied terrain, since I can get there in about 5 hours, or maybe do some trail scouting for decent stuff in Vermont or New Hampshire before winter hits. If anyone has any ideas of decent stuff in the northeast some tips on more good spots would be much appreciated.

Well as to their legality while I have never 100% confirmed its legality, it's state land and doesn't say anything about ATV use being prohibited, so im pretty sure its legal since when state trails aren't open to motor vehicles they are always pretty clear about it, they gate it off and put signs all over. Also the way I found the trail is years ago my parents used to belong to the local Land Rover club who used to do it all the time, so im pretty sure they wouldn't have done it otherwise. But yeah last time I did the trail earlier in the summer there was alot more water there than this time.

If your near southern VT. I know quite a few nice trails up this way. We should go for a wheel some time. Another guy from the forum lives around here also.

Yeah a bunch of people live around here are into Cherokee's/Jeeps. I'm on Green Mountain Crawlers and Adirondack Jeeps websites too, great places to meet locals.
