California Trail Closures - Asking for Info

So from what I've learned from our friend Google, in April 2012, 42 trails were closed throughout California due to a lawsuit basically forcing the trails to be inspected for environmental damage primarily to meadows, wetlands and streams.

From what I have been able to gather, some trails were opened quickly due to heavy popularity and very low environmental impact (no meadows, wetlands or streams). Others were shut down until repairs or alternate routes could be made.

Currently the proposal (which I don't really know much about) is in an appeals process which will take approximately 45 days. Afterward it will take another 45 days before trails are reopened.

Anyone have more info or incite into this whole debacle? I hope they don't ruin the fun of some of the trails. I'm thinking of Deer Valley, which has a meadow and a water-crossing. I fear they will build bridges around/over the "fun".

I realized today that this would be better suited in a different forum. If a mod could move this for me, that would be great. If it's fine where it is, then that's great also.

I found this map of trails in El Dorado County that have been affected. Some useful information.
