Apalachicola NF Ride

A buddy from work and I explored some of the roads and fire trails in the Apalachicola National Forest Sunday afternoon.

The roads are all sandy, hard bottom, no clay or squishy mud. It rained quite a bit Saturday so I knew that we'd encounter water and boy did we ever!

I really thought that with the dorkle/snorkle my bud would be ok with the water. Not so much. He took water in the engine bay so it took us a bit to get him up and running again. I don't guess Land Cruisers are water friendly. But any day in the NF is a good day with me.

Finally got him going again and he tried to avoid the deeper sections of water. Not doing a very good job of it here.

We ran into a couple of places that I figured we ought to stay out of, especially after his bad luck.

All in all it went well. I took the lead and made it through everything and I was quite surprised that he didn't. Anyway, Nurple never missed a beat and my bud is wishing he had his old XJ instead of the Land Cruiser. :devil2:

Also, we used an app called Avenza maps as well as US Forest Service app to map out trails in the area. Jeez there are more than we'll ever get to explore!

Anyway, will be doing another ride soon. :)

Land Cruisers are heavy turds.
