XJ Factory Swing-out Spare Tire Carrier
I was wondering if anyone out there has this Factory Swing-out Tire Carrier in new or like new condition. I can't find this anywhere. If not, does anyone know of a tire carrier that looks like this one that doesn't require the purchase of an aftermarket bumper? Thanks.

Still expensive, but way cheaper than what I have seen available.

The best way to find out if that is a stock swingout on either jeep listed, is look under the bumper at the spindle for a chrysler part number. If it was stock it will be stamped on there. Just because you get a vehicle that everything else was stock on doesn;t mean that is. I worked for a jeep dealer years ago. And we always added little misc. accessories to our vehicles and left everything else stock. And of there is a part number please PM me cause I'll put one of those on my wife's xj, instead of ordering another protopab.

could have been an accessory added by the dealer. I will call a buddy of mine and have him look in the parts database for it on monday.

I like that setup from Detour, but maybe if your going to go through the work of installing it why not just get a better bumper that provides better protection to the entire rear of your Jeep.

that actually is a stock carrier. Jeep offered 2 styles, like fantic said. Neither were available for the 97+ those so whoever owned it before you found that one on an older one put it on.
The Detours carrier is amazing. I have it and am really glad I bought it. It's very strong and if you're concerned about bumper strength, don't be. It doesn't connect to your bumper. Your bumper skin connects to it. Literally. Check out my write up and you'll see what I mean.

Here's my album on it. Start with the last picture and work towards the first to see it in installation order.
