If you have a stock rear 44 it's known as a Dana44a. Your choices in lockers are limited to one. Aussie is the only locker available for that axle.

What would be a good/simple axle swap if I decided to get rid of the 44a?

Nope, you'll have to google that one.

Simple:
D35 from a ZJ...but that's a P.O.S. axle and not worth the trouble.

Good:
A Dana44 from a TJ.
It will already have the same brackets as your current axle....but it ain't gonna be cheap.

A Ford 8.8" axle with a complete bracket kit might be a better choice for ya.
