WTB 46RE Transmission.
I have yet to be able to go to all the surrounding yards but I know they are out there. It's for my 94 Grand Cherokee with the 5.2l in it. Obviously I am seeking a working transmission not one that needs a rebuild.
I prefer it to be within 100 miles, I can remove it myself if needed. The zip code is 23072 for reference. TylerL. 94 ZJ 3" lift. My DD. |
When mine blew up in my old ZJ I ended up getting one off eBay. I won it for something absurd like $25 plus $125 truck freight. We didn't have a pick n pull at the time but even now that wasn't much more than what it would cost me to pull it at the yard.
Oh and those things are HEAVY AS ****! We have a PnP now in town and they have quite a few ZJ V8s. |
I am going to the one in VA Beach tomorrow. So fingers crossed. But you are right that is virtually the same price from a yard. I can find a million 42re trannies but no 46s online. For a decent price that is.

Yeah the 46s are much less common. How'd you luck out with the rare steaming pile o' poo instead of the common steaming pile o' poo? ;)
Drew - Who hates the ZJV8 trans options with a passion . . . FYI - Are you sure you don't need a 46RH? That's what my 95 had in it . . . |
It was only $650. Nothing I can find wrong besides the transmission. 126k miles, 3" lift, brush guard. If a 4.0l I6 swap was logical I would do it in a heart beat. Luckily the np249 seems to be in good shape as well.
I was pretty sure it was the re but at one time I thought it was the rh too. I know for sure it's not a A518 chrylser. Even though all three are almost the same. TylerL. 94 ZJ 3" lift. My DD. |
