1" square tubing works also. Measure and cut and slap it on works great.

Spacing your hood up may work for cooling, but is a huge safety hazard. With it spaced up, if you hit something very hard you can launch that hood right through your windshield. I have lots of experience as a firefighter and have been to hundreds of wrecks. That hood needs something behind it to make it buckle instead of tearing loose. This may be cheap, but nothing to loose your head over. (literally)

Man 4.3L makes a good point. I may have to do vents when I get home from the sandbox.

Glad you guys see it that way. Many times I get a lot of arguments about this. I would rather see you alive and on the forum than in a box.

That is a good question. Many times we do some questionable mods to our vehicles, such as too tall lifts, steering mods and no sway bars that we justify by cost and wanting trail performance. This is one more of those situations that is prompted by very low cost as opposed to venting.

Although I do diss agree to some point I won't argue about it. Every one has different degrees of safety. On my off road only jeep I went for hood vents. Just cause I got them for free and I thought they looked better. I have planes for a cowled hood at some point ( have a spair hood). That is another option if you have a welder. But vents can be found vary cheep and if your buying other stuff are free most times.
