96 and newer ax15 with mated transfercase best bet

I don't have one, but I can give you a little info that might help you out in your search.

You have a couple options:

1. AX-5: Found in 4 cylinder XJ/YJ/TJ's from '84-06 and is a 21 spline output, so you can use your existing transfer case.
2. AX-15: Found in 6 cylinder XJ/YJ/TJ's from '88-99 and is a 23 spline output, so the transfer case would also be needed.

Personally, I'd look to find a AX-15 as it's a much stronger transmission.

I have an ax15 from my 99 cherokee that I need to sell. It drove fine but started to whine. I replaced it with a cheap used one. Trans and bell housing available. Make an offer? it is in Richmond, va.

Thanks xj22 i was unsure of the year they had for the 21spline and I read you can swap out the inputs on the 231s to make them 21spline and also free my only probably is getting a new tcase is I just put a really low miles one in my Jeep my old one died cause the kid I bought my Jeep from let mud get in it and stay and didn't take care of the jeep
