No worries, we all have to learn somehow. And no you can't put the rear up front. The pumpkin is offset to the drivers side on the front axle in the XJ. If you want a 44 front you can shell out bukoo bucks for a custom like Solid or Dynatrac or you can find an old mid-70's ford HP D44, but it would require a lot of fab work to narrow it and set it up to match the 8.8 rear end. Why not just run the D30 that's in it?

sounds like the D30 thats in it would be plenty strong for ya... and also you cant use a rear axle because it doesnt steer... has it all been done... yes.... on tv with a 14 bolt rear end... but it takes more money and skill then we both have together im sure... lol... find you a 8.8 or D44 rear end for your cherokee... your best bet i think is going to be the 8.8... i think i would use it long before another D44... alot more perks... and Dan Fredrickson sell the kit to be able to swap this is axle in easily... i just bout it for a ford 9in... hes in the vendor section... goodluck!!
