CV type front driveshaft
I recently purchased a 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.7L with an NV247 transfer case as a Project Vehicle. It has no front driveshaft. The front axle and transfer have the flanges for the CV/CV(Type 3 ?) driveshaft. I need to get one soon. Some postings say it will ruin the xfer to drive without one. Other postings say it won't hurt. Doesn't matter - I won't drive it without one. Anybody have one for sale? New to the XJ circle. I'm an old CJ nut.

A double cardon is the standard. I had that flange style front output yoke on a transfer case from a Grand Cherokee. Switched it out for the yoke style to run the double cardon drive-shaft. It's an easy swap. On the 242 and 231 Transfer case, it will not harm anything to drive without the front shaft. But your 247 is different,it has a viscous coupler. Could be trouble. |
I'm not lifting this one. The CJ is for the serious off-roading. I just need to get the stock drive shaft back in the Grand Cherokee

Understood, also I realized the 247 TC operates different and I edited my previous post to reflect it.
Hopefully someone will hook you up. I might have found one on e-bay for $125 delivered. Seems like too much. If all else fails, car-part.com http://www.ebay.com/itm/07-08-09-10-...524ffb&vxp=mtr |
Thanks for trying to hook me up but that's for a newer GC. According to the parts manuals the one I need is '99 thru 2004.
