^Or he could take his $2500 and buy a whole new XJ, and then use the left over money to buy a used engine for the old one.
On another note, OP, what year are you replacing? You don't want to deal with converting the ignition system.

Right, if you just want a quick drop-in swap, then you need one that uses a distributor if yours does, and one that doesn't if yours doesn't -- that's why I was asking what year your previous/original motor was.
