2000-2001 4.0
 

Im in bad need of a 4.0 for my 2001 Cherokee. All i can find is Grand Cherokee or Wrangler motors, or a few out of a Cherokee with high milege. My cherokee only has 107k miles so im not interested in anything over say 110k. I live in the Chattanooga, Tn area so would prefer to find something in the local area considering my work weeks are usually 60 hours. Thanks

I have a '98 4.0 with 112k still in the XJ. Local in Chattanooga. Rear freeze plug is bad, so coolant leaks out as fast as you pour it in. Can start and hear run, runs very well. Just wanted to throw it out there, as most folks I know replace the freeze plugs, timing chain, and oil pump as a precaution (easier while it's out) when swapping a motor. Price would be $300 +/- or $200 and you pull. This is a distributor engine, so some mods would have to be made. I bought the Jeep to convert it over to 4WD and am using the complete drivetrain out of a '99 for this job.
