Rugged Ridge Cross-over Steering Conversion
 

I don't know if this is the "proper" place for this, but I just wanted to share a good deal on this with everyone. This thing is beefy as heck and a breeze to install. I got it for $228.00 shipped, which was as cheap as I could find.

The pic in their ad is wrong, but you will get the correct kit. Here it is installed on my XJ.

How do you like it? Did it bolt right in? Does it have provisions for a steering damper?

I love it. It's very strong. It did just bolt right in, just take your measurements before removing the old stuff for alignment's sake. Yes, it does come with bracketry to install a dampener. Min was shot, so I didn't bother installing it.

Do you have any clearance issues between the drag link and the TB mount when you turn full lock to passenger? And the diff cover when turn full lock driver??? I have one just like this, and I have major clearance issues.

Check to see your passengers side tie rod end kinks toward the front of the jeep... When I ordered my set they sent me the wrong passenger side ( it was for a yj) and it would make my tie rod rub the TB bolts on full lock

I have this problem!! Cant turn to full lock to the passenger side. So youre saying its the tie rod end??

It could be! This is a pic of the passenger side tie rod end for a YJ so if your kinks just like this one you have the wrong one and that's your problem

nah, mine is straight. But still have the problem. Its the Serious 1 ton kit and idk how to fix it other than to relocate the trac bar mount.

Serious is a little different of a set up then RR... Yep relocate the TB or go OTK

ive heard the rugged ridge kit has a dead spot in the steering wheel due to the tie rod rolling. is this true?

The only issue with the RR setup is they don't have the "spacer" that eliminates most of the dead spot. So you either have to make one or go with Serious or JCR.

I don't know what you mean by dead spot, but mine seems fine to me. Maybe I just don't notice it. As far the full lock goes, my issue is the TRE hitting the wheel at full lock on a left turn. I've already test fitted my new wheels and this will no longer be an issue. At full lock to the right, it barely touches the stabilizer bracket mounting bolt, but a cap head bolt will resolve that. Even still, I could just work with the steering stop bolts to limit the travel and be done with it.

My buddy has the same steering kit... Cant wait to get rid of it... Huge dead spot in steering and a pain in the *** to adjust
