They simply allow the axle to droop and tuck more because the back end of the leaf does not have any resistance given by a standard shackle.
Its not a huge difference but I noticed more traction through twisty terrain and better rear articulation. It was also smoother.

Not sure how those work, looks like the middle joint pivots to make the springs twist? I guess I'm not sure how you would get more droop out of the axle though. Enlighten me!

Think of how an adjustable control arm with a flex joint works. It allows the arm to twist more without binding the bushings and stressing the CA brackets. This basically does the same thing. Less resistance and binding equals better flex. At least that's how I see them working.

Hey Andy, what's the total length from hole to hole? It looks HUGE in picture.

still cant picture this being an advantage. how much binding does a leaf spring bushing have? how much binding from side to side when the leaf articulates?

Its more of a torsional relief. I already took mine off and gave them to a buddy to try out or I would have gone out and took some pics. when one side drops it twists the spring towards the dropping side. The stock shackle and front leaf eyelet keep it from twisting. This just allows more twist. Its the same reason Alcan puts a flex joint in leaf spring Eyelets.
This isn't the end all be all for a flexy rear end but it definitely makes a difference.
