86 MJ trans

I got a 86 mj and the 5spd 2wd ax5 clutch wasn't working I took it apart and did some research one guy says that his has a retainer clip on his throw out bearing fork pivot ball thing and some other guy says his 88 comanche doesn't have that I'm unsure if that's the reason my mj is having the issue or not

This isnt my photo just an example. My 5spd didn't have the retainer clip

Need some help working on a 86 2.8 V6 2wd comanche with a 5spd (ax5. I think)
I have trans taken apart because the clutch wasn't disengaging. I have the throw out bearing out and I noticed there's 2 sides of the fork and it goes to slave cylinder to pivot ball and I was doing some research and I noticed some of the ax5 trans have a retainer clip / spring on the opposite side of the clutch slave cylinder on the pivot. But someone also said that their 88 comanche didn't have one and the clutch pushed it back in place
what he said
" on my 88. There is no spring. The clutch pressure plate will naturally push the clutch bearing and fork back".
just little confused if it does need it or not.
"side note I bought the mj from a guy who had zero clue about the car and he bought it off some other guy and it looks like the clutch has recently been replaced so im unsure if he forgot a part or something else is wrong with it"

Just bought this yesterday for 6500? Did I get a good one? And wtf is this chaos in the engine bay? I have a 4.0 engine but I've never seen a renix in person til yesterday.
