A word about Off-Topic and the site.

I know Stryker shut down two threads for pictures that went a little over the line. I back him up 100%. I know his judgment is no where near as conservative as mine so I am sure if he felt it went over the line it did. I feel all of our mods do their best to make fair and sounds judgments that is in the best interest of the site.

Now yes the Off-Topic area is for off topic chatter that has nothing to do with jeeps or does not have an appropriate section. That's fine but bottom line this is a "Family friendly site" and will remain as such with any and all posts in the public eye. We have a supporting members area that we allow certain things that do not cross the pornographic line and that's fine it's out of the public eye and not viewable by the general public and there for it is the parents responsibility to censor what their kids can view. If a topic offends another member in any part of the general viewing areas it can and will be removed if the staff of this site feels it should be removed. If you do not like it I am sorry but that is just how it is. Posting on this site is a privilege not a GOD GIVEN RIGHT. I see it as this we are stepping into someone elses home and as such we should abide by and respect their rules.

Bottom line if a mod removes a post or removes a specific part of a post, removes or closes a thread they have just reason and I will back them up 100% as I am sure the owners of the site will back me up 100%.

We want everyone to enjoy the site and we want to maintain a family friendly site as well. So if it falls withing the PG-PG13 or higher rating just do not post it. It is pretty darn simple and easily followed and has been for some time by many users. Do not push the envelope because in the end you will lose. In the end this is a Jeep site and the offtopic area could easily be removed so keep that in mind.

Anyways enjoy the site be nice, play by the rules and if you have an issue with a judgment a mod or any member of this staff has made please feel free to drop me a PM and discuss it. I will gladly discuss anything with anyone but mine or any other mods decisions are final and I will not argue over our decisions.

One more thing.. Keep in mind the Mods do not and can not read every thread that is posted to this site. So we really on our members to police themselves and if they see a thread that falls outside of the basic guidelines of a Family Friendly/PG site to please report the threads so we can take care of them.

I understand the need to control the content of the material posted on the forum to keep it a family friendly environment. But is it necessary to completly close a thread due an inappropriate posting, or can that particular posting be removed so the members can continue the thread.

Yes, i apologize too, it all was only intended to have fun, and forums are totally new to me, i will learn more about PG-PG13 to stay under the level.

Just to add in the future instead of closing the thread we will simply edit the post to remove the offending picture. All I ask is keep the pics to a PG13 or lower rating. That's all I ask. We just want to keep the public areas as family friendly as possible. Thanks for everyones understanding.

Yes guys I completely agree, This is a family friendly site, Me and my wife and kids like to Cook dinner and sit down on the site and read what Problems people are having with they're Jeeps. It's really disturbing when someone posts up an opinion that is not fit for my 1 Year old twins to read, And furthermore My 4 year old does not need to be influenced by those of you that choose to Run Without a cat.

And another thing, I really dont want my wife to think i am On this site to look at other women, She's extremely jealous and i dont want this site to Cause relationship problems..

Someone brought it up a while back... just thought I'd put it out there.

Off-topic should be taken off post-count to make it easier for ppl to distinguish the more experienced ppl on the forum.

Off topic does go to the post count but post count has nothing to do with how much knowledge someone has about any particular thing. It simply counts posts. That is why it is called a post count and not a knowledge count.

We are all here to share knowledge, experiences and ideas. The forum does say "cherokeeforum" but like any other human being we also like to bond by simply talking and getting to know one another. Thus the off topic section is a place to do so without clogging up the strictly XJ areas with chatter.

Having off topic posts included in the post count or removed from the post count has nothing to do with anyone's knowledge however I will say that just by talking to people on here I have learned more than I could ever have dreamed about. I have posted several things in the tech section asking questions and finding answers however by getting to know the members via off topic has been even more valuable to me personally. Just chit chatting and sharing stories builds the general community in ways that simple sitting around and asking/answering XJ questions could not.
