Later than 2000 radio
So I always toy with the idea of putting a newer Jeep stereo in my '00 XJ. One with a aux port. Anybody think this will work for the different connectors?

Also I know that some of these radios have steering wheel controls. Sometimes toy with the idea of putting a '02 or down Grand Cherokee steering wheel in. Not even sure if GC's came with the steering wheel controls but if they did I have to assume they would not work because wiring would still be missing. Sound right? Last looking at this post, which is why I started thinking about it again, I noticed the radio says Anti-Theft. Is that one of those need the code thing to work and means I can not use it?

Wiring harness on the 2 are very different between the XJ and WJ I have both and my 99 is the same as yours. The only difference on the WJ's the harness on the 02's down were not built for the Nav system but could be adapted easily.
FYI they did come with steering controls on all the WJ's for a number of different things.
There is a seller on eBay that sells rebuilt radios/nav units for all the jeeps and I know for a fact on the ones for a WJ he has installed an adapter for aux port that allows all functions including the amp for great sound when connected. He is very reasonable and has a one yr. warranty with them.

Still a little confused. I don't really care about the Nav System or steering wheel controls. Just really want the aux port. I picked up another CD/Cassette radio just like the one in my '00 XJ just to see if I could put in a aux port like the ones on ebay. Not spending $200 on a used radio just to get an aux port. Just trying to figure out other ways to do this. That is why I asked about the connectors at the first link. Also the plans of possibly putting in a Grand Cherokee wheel is just for the look. Now if I get other functions like steering wheel controls out of the deal that is just the icing on the cake. Also still confused if the Anti-Theft would be an issue.

Ok I see one with the connection built in from the factory, then NO none will fit they are to large to fit the 1 1/2 din opening. The 04 WJ still had an 1 1/2 din opening most of those had a 2 din.

Why not just get an aftermarket one? You'll get more power, better sound, and an aux port. Maybe bluetooth for a couple extra bucks.
Even with a GC wheel, you won't get the audio controls to work without a different clock spring and tons of other hassle. Cruise will work.

I am fine with a factory stereo. No desire to put an aftermarket on in. Just would not mind having an aux port. As far as the steering wheel controls go don't care about that either. Figured they wouldn't work but did not know for sure. Cruise I do care about because I will be installing that in the spring.
