face-lift for 88 Comanche option??
Guys n Gals, Does anyone know if you can mate a '97 Cherokee Sport front clip (body parts) to an '88 comanche?
I have a 2wd that was supposed to go to my son (whole nother story..)
and have decided to sell it but want to give it a nicer/smoother face lift.
I was at a local pull it and found a "very clean" 97 Cherokee sport and in a few min, had the front grill/bumper off and on my way home.
The most difference to me is the front fenders would need to have the front of the 88's fenders 'trimmed' to accept the wrap around bumper/lower valance of the 97's.
Has anyone else here or "out there" seen it or done it?
Thanks E

x2 get the fenders, then it will look factory.
and if you want to go that little bit more, get the doors to help smooth out the look, providing they're from a 4 door.

Thanks guys.
So, will the hood and lines of it will 'blend' in? I'll try and go back and get the fenders.
And yes, it's from a 4dr (its just that they're white and will have to respray.
Cruiser54; What do you consider the "header panel"? Between the hood and windshield or between bumper and grill (on most cars) or the lower valance? (the yard that It's at calls the grill assy a 'header-panel'.. just sayin)
If it doesn't take that much, i'll grab it-- under the windshield that is..
And if yer wonderin, Yes.. Did a search.
Do you know how many threads come up JUST for the word 'swap'? (so I typed in "front end swap") not much showed up then. But didn't really have what I was lookin for. (that's why I hate getting told to search) Usually just googling -images- gives me more of what I'm looking for, but takes tons of time that I really don't have..
I REALLY think stuff like this should be in the DIY or Sticky sections under Body- and or exterior mods.
I MIGHT take pics and do a quick and dirty write-up on it with pics if someone wants it.
I just feel like their might be someone else that would do a better job, since I don't know ALL the nomenclature and or
well known info of the "Jeep Community".
Nonetheless, thanks again guys.

Header panel is in front of the fenders, front of the hood, behind the grill.

WOW.. That looks NICE!
It's just that all the little mods that I've read that SAY they're easy-peezy AREN'T SO EASY FOR ME!
Cluster swap is causing blown fuses, Tilt steering column from a 88 cherokee sport pushes the 'rod' instead of pulling, '95 Cherokee brake booster doesn't look like it will swap like everyone says either.. (it's my daily and need it for work Mon)
I'm getting to the point that when some say "It's a bolt in" I'm tending NOT to believe it all so much..
I WILL give it a shot with the fenders. Just gotta get a good torx bit and fresh battery and go to it.
Thanks again.

Well, got the pass fender off the 97 but the d/s was crinkled.
Not too far away was a '99 that I got the d/s fender and tilt buckets since it was a 2dr.
Then Im walking and see a RH 46/A518 just sittin there waiting for me.. Whooohoo
I'm going to blast/primer them and take care of a couple nicks and dings.

Also, had computer issues and lost alot of stuff.
I'll try and post pics at some point.
Thanks E
