Does anyone know how to remove the "Safe Mode" from the UConnect Navigation System?

Thanks Metal - I tired that menu last night, there was nothing obvious on how to remove the safe mode from the Navigation Module. I have to believe there has to be a tools option that allows you to remove it (since the Nav Module is a Garmin product and all Garmin GPS' have that option). I will keep on looking. I will post if I find something.

If it's in 'Safe Mode', it may be a dealer demo mode that is pre-programmed from the factory. Ford has the same thing for the MyFord Touch system, and it's supposed to take it out of that mode after about 1,000 miles. But I think a dealer can remove it, so I'd just take it back to the dealer and ask them to do it.

id say if their is a Default anything in these settings its best not to reset it, or you could revert back to the factory unsecured settings that just got patched.. i have not really looked to see if it has that or not..

It will not revert to unsecured simply by resetting the settings. The security fixes are at the operating system level and would have to be manually overwritten to be removed. When you reset it to defaults all you do is wipe the settings files.

show me something that says it will or will not.. something factual rather than an online debate.. i dont know if it will or not.. and yes setting stuff back to default is what it is.. just figured id throw that out there.. we dont know if it will or will not.. it might.. we cant really manage the computer our self.. unless you do it and it does it..

Being a systems administrator myself I know it will not. There is nothing to debate. It's just the fear of people that are not highly skilled with computer systems.

of course it does, that is exacly why you have to redo those updates and everything else once its back to default. and god forbid you zeroize it by mistake.. heck you can even lose drivers for other hardware attached on a computer , we have ALMOST all been there and done that lmao.. further more this is not windows or your mac, have you been trained or have any kind of training on these uconnect systems, and have a diagnostic machine to verify? if so share the knowledge..
fear? id rather not cause my ride to have a voided warranty due to lack of certification because i messed with something i didnt know about just yet..

being an admin/isso is what it is.. not a Uconnect expert.. setting up email accounts, securing a router or 2 ... maybe a server, but thats not the same.. dont void your warranty until we actually get something solid to see how it works is the message.

i got my ISSO/ADMIN certification from New Horizons in Landstuhl Germany, i am not doubting you are skilled in computers, but what you just said was way off... enlighten me..

Uconnect is just a Linux kernel with a fancy interface. That's all any embedded system that was created by a sane developer is. If it can be done using the customer interface it will not void the warranty.

lol its not openSUSE, lol, also lets keep in mind the NAME of the 2 button push, "engeneering" which most of us are not chrysler techs, < you know these folks will have every end covered they can to avoid warranty claims..

It is not Linux based as it is QNX which is an UNIX OS. It is the OS that Blackberries use and RIM owns QNX these days.

You do realize linux is based on unix right? There is unix and windows and that is all.
