Question Questions :)

Hello Ladies & Gentleman.

I am new to the forum! I hope this is in the correct section!

I currently own a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and am currently factory ordering a new 2017 Jeep Cherokee High Altitude.

I had a few questions as I wait for my vehicle to be built.

I full loaded the vehicle (except for the CD player and Wireless charger, which both seem overpriced and pointless IMO) and went with the V6.

-Do you think I got a good deal? The MSRP came out to $44,125, my price after taxes & incentives is $39,831. (does not include extra warranty cost)

-Did you buy the Mopar Max Care Lifetime Warranty? If so, do you think its worth it, and what did you pay? (Mine is quoted at $2,300)

-Has anyone had an issues with any of the features in the packages such as Forward Collision Braking, Lane Departure, Adaptive Cruise, Parking Assist, etc...?

-As I have not paid for the vehicle yet, only the $500 ordering fee (which is refunded when taking ownership), do you think I could get any freebies from Jeep or the Dealership? Anything standard that they usually give out?

-Anyone hear a difference in the 9 Speaker system vs the 6 Speaker system?

-How long do orders from Jeep Cherokees usually take from order to delivery?

-Do you think the HID lights are better then Halogen lights?

-After re-checking Jeeps website, the 2017 Jeep Cherokees High Altitude/Limited do not show the V6 as an option anymore, anyone know why?

Thanks in advance to answers! Much appreciated

I did buy the 2016 brand new on a trade in Patriot. Common sense to anyone who doesn't have money to burn (lacking in my department) would dictate buying slightly used and saving a bundle. I have not had tranny issues but was bothered by the low speed acceleration wobble and thru my own persistence had the half shafts changed out for ones that eliminated the problem. I don't know if they have finally started to install the 'fix'' with the 2017s but seeing most people accept it as 'normal' ( I just can't figure that one) I doubt it. As for the lifetime package I totally balked at the package. And it seemed to me that that had to be renewed in dollars every five years or so. But I found that initial cost too much of a scam.
And 9 vs 6 speakers? They really are trying to suck us dry. My 6 spkr sounds fine. I also save a few bucks opting for cloth as oppose to leather. Have had leather before and can live without it. Then there's the Serius radio. To old to start paying for radio now. And especially when here in the mountains and in big cities it cuts out all the time. **** dat.

Thanks for the reply!

The warranty quoted to be, and in the paperwork its lifetime (till im dead, or sell the vehicle), and has a $100 deductible. But there wasnt any renew, just the up front one time cost.

I went with the 9 speakers, just because. Hoping they are better, if not, Ill be able to replace with my own speakers, then will have more factory spots for them.

The leather seats came along with it. Along with the sirius radio, I could live without as well, but ill try it for the first free year, and if I dont like it then oh well

First off, funny you have a '94 GC Laredo, I used to have one as well (I have a 2002 WJ Grand Cherokee now).

$44k seems like a lot to spend on a KL Cherokee... you may as well get a Grand Cherokee WK2 for that money... my dad has a '14 Grand Cherokee WK2 that we got used a few weeks ago, and while we didn't pay $43k when we got it due to it being used, that's what it costs new (it has the 8.4N nav radio, a single-pane sunroof, and 20" wheels as its options, no other options).

We have a Grand Cherokee but it has the 9-speaker system. We had the dealer fix a minor issue on our Jeep (not to do with the stereo, but rather the brakes), and they gave us a used 2011 base model Grand Cherokee Laredo "E" as a loaner with the 6-speaker system, and yes, I can DEFINITELY tell a difference (it's basically the same setup in the Cherokee KL), so definitely worth the money, mainly because of the 506-watt amplifier, front door woofers in place of the full-range units, a center-channel speaker, surround sound, a more "fine-tuned" equalizer, additional rear speakers, and a rear-mounted subwoofer. If you have the Infinity Gold system in your current Jeep, you'll notice a difference, and even if you don't, you'll notice a difference, but the best way to tell for yourself (although I highly recommend the 9-speaker system over the base 6-speaker setup) is to listen to both setups and decide for yourself. We had the 6-speaker Boston Acoustics setup in the 2005 Grand Cherokee Laredo WK we traded in on it, and even though that was good, this is much better

HID's are definitely brighter than halogens, if that's what you're looking for.

As far as I know the V6 is still available on all models except for the base Sport.

I don't know much about the Mopar Care Plan, but we've begun to investigate it for our 2014 Grand Cherokee, as it has 55k miles and the basic warranty expired a bit ago.

Hope this helps!

I wouldve went with a Grand Cherokee, but it would of been approx 3,000 more on the MSRP with the options I wanted and additionally i wouldve lost out on about 1,500 in incentives. Didnt feel like losing out on $4,500.

I prefer a used vehicle, as we have went through a few used vehicles including jeep, that just had immense problems. We have had a couple new ones, without any problem so far.

Id of tried to listen to the 9 speaker Alpine system at a Jeep dealership, but sadly thats not an option everyone wants here apparently, as no dealership within 100 miles had one with the 9 speaker system.

HID's come standard, just getting opinions on how they perform over halogens

Yeah their must be a technical error or something, because they removed the V6 option from the Cherokee Lineup except for I believe Overland & Trailhawk.

The Lifetime Mopar seems to good to be true lol, but for about 2k, its worth it, especially if your transmission or engine goes, or if you have constant problems after the mfg warranty.

Hello again everyone!

I have taken delivery of my vehicle last as of last wednesday.

For anyone tracking dealer delivery times, or that has stumbled upon this thread. I ordered my Jeep from the factory on 10/17/16, I took delivery on 11/30/16.

I also scored an additional $750.00 off due to black friday sales!

Also I would appreciate if anyone that owns a 2017 Jeep Cherokee with the Safety Tec Package could reply to this post, and let me know if you have power folding mirrors. As on Jeeps website, and in the manual, it states that there should be power folding mirrors, which to use has a button between the "L" and "R" mirror buttons on the driver arm rest.

Mine did not come with a button to use power folding mirrors, after talking to my dealer, they said none of their Jeep Cherokees have that feature. I contacted the Jeep HQ, and they stated that my vehicle is indeed equipped with them, and to verify that I do not have a button to use them.

So I am currently waiting to hear back, wether I am going to be issued some type of rebate for a missing feature, or if they are going to install them at some point. Who knows, maybe I just created a recall lol.

Anyway, if anyone has power folding mirrors on their 2017 Jeep Cherokee with Safety Tec Group let me know.

the 9 speaker system is much better. it is what I have in my 2015 Trailhawk, but I am currently having issues with it playing emergency alerts at random intervals. they replaced it with a new one, but it is doing the same thing. I am currently working with Jeep Cares and my dealer to get it resolved.

as for the satellite radio. I never thought I would want it, but I go fishing in some very remote areas of Nevada and Utah and in a few of them I cant get a radio signal. its nice to the satellite radio then.

As for headlights the HID are much better. I would have liked to have had them on mine, but they did not offer them at the time. I am going to look in to aftermarket options for mine or see what it takes to swap in a set of factory jeep units.

I don't know why the V6 is not showing in the options. you defiantly want the V6. My Trailhawk has been in the shop for the radio problems 3 times now, and I have had a series of loaners with the 4 cylinder. the new 4 banger in the cherokee is not as bad as the old one in the patriot. The 9 speed trans compensates for the reduced horsepower to some extent, but once you have been driving the 3.2L V6 model and then go to driving the 4 cylinder, I really notice the difference in power. FCS should forget about the I4 and just use the V6. the Cherokee is heavy enough that it really need the V6. maybe even the 3.6L out of the wrangler as an option.
