I have a 2016 cherokee sport with the 5 inch screen. I was wondering if I could upgrade to the 8.4 with nav without any major issues.

I have the 8.4 without nav. So, ya, I'm sure you could. It would mean dash replacement labor and the nav unit. Of course there are the buttons on the steering wheel and..... Hmmm... how much money do you have?

Comparing the dashboards between the sport and latitude look the same. I mean except for the bezel between the ra2 and ra4 installations. The mounting should be the same for a mass produced car and its my understanding the radio and gps attna are the same. what functionally would I loose from the steering wheel column?

Go to oemautopartsco.com, they have what you need... you just need to replace your screen and that's it.

Should swap. Just don't buy one from Craigslist. Stealing the 8.4's has been a thing around here.

Definitely not! You want to buy from a reputable source, such as oemautopartsco.com, so it's pre-programmed to your vehicle and is ready to plug-'n'-play, and if you need an anti-theft code, it's given to you so it's ready to use when you get it.
