Only manufacturing issue I had was the rear tow hook had not been properly bolted down. Friend of mine noticed the hook wiggled when he tapped it. Sure enough, improper bolting. Took the dealer a few minutes to fix, but nothing remotely as serious as yours!

I'd DEFINITELY be asking for a new vehicle. Call me superstitious but nothing ever works as well when the original motor/original vehicle are seperated.
