Default Ding Ding Ding Ding

Driving me nuts on my new Cherokee. I already disarmed the seatbelt ding and if I get in and clip the seatbelt and then turn the key I dont get the annoying (and loud) dings. But just turning on the key sitting there without seatbelt brings it on. Is there any way of shutting it down or turning down the volume?

Pages 55-56 of your owners manual. Read it.

Maybe your bit not mine. Instead of me rereading the thing for the tenth time maybe you could just tell me. And, again, I already did the three times seatbelt dismantle. This dings away at startup unless I am buckled in.

I'd pull the fuse for the chime

Good point. Have to look for that.

And no such fuse.

I have now been told by the dealer that, under law, they cannot turn off the chimes. I would so much like to hear the last of the dings, even if it turns me into Jesse James.

Your dealer is full of it. There is no law mandating the seatbelt dinger be on

Actually the SBRS, Seat Belt Reminder System is required under FMVSS-208 Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard set forth by NHTSA authorized by US Congress. Europe has similar requirements not sure about BC.

Didn't realize you were in BC. In the US manual it states...
BeltAlert can be activated or deactivated by your authorized dealer. FCA US LLC does not recommend deactivating BeltAlert.
Unless I'm reading it wrong, it is possible, just not reccomended.

Dont know how many times Ive seen that and others like it. And, as previously stated I have accomplished that. But to avoid the startup dings I still have to plug the belt in before turning the key.

get in, Buckle UP . set ignition switch to the RUN setting, wait for seat belt warning light to turn off, then re-buckle 3 times, ending on the 3rd, power down, should hear a chime, and after that no alarm but should get warning on dash.
