Default Auto Climate Control

I have a 2015 TH, and have been noticing something peculiar.

We've been having unusually cool mornings in Eastern Iowa this week. My temp controls are usually set for 70° during Iowa summer.

The last two mornings, I've noticed that the panel vents will blow out warm air, even if I've double checked and made sure that the AUTO button is turned off.

I can't seem to just bring in outside air. It's as if the car is trying to maintain the temp in the display, even if I don't want it to.

Now maybe I don't understand how it works. And the owners manual is really poorly written in my opinion (judging by previous Ford manuals I've read). The manual really doesn't explain how the auto is "supposed" to work. Actually, after reading through it last night, it doesn't explain a lot of the tech features very well.

I assumed (maybe wrongly) that the only time the car would automatically maintain the set temp shown on the display, was when the AUTO button was activated. But mine seems to do it all the time.

Is the AUTO button only for letting the car set the fan speed by itself, or for setting the vent openings (panel, floor, defrost) by itself??

So the only way I can let the cool outside air into my car right now, is to set the temp controls to what the outside temp reading is.

Yes, before some smart-a replies ... I know I can open the windows too.

Anyone got any expert input?

I just had a similar problem with my Trailhawk: cool/cold on the driver's side, but continuously warm/hot air on the passenger, no matter how I adjusted the setting on the display or adjusted the manual controls.

I had to take it into the shop, and the technicians were "well aware" of the problem. Turned out to be a software issue, but unfortunately it just about wasted all my coolant. Fortunately, it was all under warranty. I gather I wasn't the first.

I wonder if the latest "security update" was supposed to take care of it?

I know the update had 11 units that addressed certain vehicle systems, but I don't know specifically if the Climate control was one of them.
