Transmission is a con in more ways than one.

Yes I had the reflash bs done about two weeks ago. It seemed to work quite well and I noticed the transmission shifting much smoother and no longer hunting for the right gears. I just feel fortunate because I just got back from a 500 mile round trip vacation with it.

lucky you, i was in the middle of BFE, out of state some 3 hours from home.. deputy came to light me a road flare. he had to take a call and roll out... before he left he said.. if ya have a gun.. i suggest you load it while waiting on a tow...

these events lasted like 2 minutes..before mine shut down..
it accelerated from 30 to 50 lost all power.. (and i didnt know it puked up oil all over the engine and underneath)
mine flashed up 4wd not available, the battery thing popped up that it was charging 10v 8v 16v 14v etc... in like a 10 second period.. the dash was a deathly red color instead of that happy color you normally see..
the same shifting stuff happened as yours.. it felt like it had no transmission at all.. so much stuff flashed on screen it was hard to keep up with while driving..

but yes.. do call chrysler and get an advocate online..
any idea what month your jeep was born? i think mine was made in Jan.
im 99.9 percent sure something is up with the computer, or as Cruiser54 stated.. possibly a major ground issue..
my lights dim when i roll up or down the window, which makes me wonder if...
the alternator is not pushing enough juice? or a battery with more cranking amps is needed? if its system is starving for juice, in theory .. then the possibility of the computer crashing and throwing out a glitch is more of a reality than theory..
and or just a glitch like a smart phone thats over worked or gets toooo hot!
considering the computer is right next to the engine?!
id like to narrow it down to what ever it is.. because so far i love its abilities on and off road.. when its fully functional..

Here I was thinking it could be the transmission the whole time, the computer module malfunction does make sense, the Jeep was made 1/14 and like you I also got a battery message along with the transmission needing service and four wheel drive disabled. I had the thing towed this morning to the dealership so I am now waiting on word from them. I'm not going to get too upset YET and my wife wonders why I still use a flip phone, I am just merely taking precautions to protect myself.

I was told by the dealer that it was a computer issue and not a transmission issue. He then plainly told me much like a cell phone the Cherokees computer May glitch thus causing my trailhawk to go into complete meltdown mode. He said the the engine/ transmission goes into " limp mode" which allowed me to get home.
They said they reset the succession of computers I think he said six in all and told me basically to deal with it because Chrysler has no idea what is causing my particular computer problem. I said as calmly as I could muster that I though that I had bought a Jeep not an effing Kia so his excuse wasn't good enough on a vehicle that I work hard to pay for yet alone let my wife and small children drive around in. I doubt anyone reading this would say well let's see if it happens on the highway next time. Ok so long story short they agreed to replace the Transmission Control Module or TCM. And of course I got a Kia Soul as a rental...smh.
