And one more thing, you just got yourself a week vacation from Cherokee Forum for being a pain in the neck!!

I'll be honest, when they first unveiled the KL I was not at all a fan. I've never posted on this subforum, so please don't lump me in with the people who have come on here and bashed in the past. I just didn't like the way it looked. It was too modern. I felt like I was looking at a glorified car. BUT...
It's been almost a year and my opinion has completely changed. I don't know why but I've done a 180 on how I feel about the styling. The odd lines & the way it stands out remind me a bit of the old Isuzu VehiCROSS. One of my favorite SUV's of all time. If only they could find a way to lift it.
Consider me a KL fan.

No lift, or severely limited lift and modification capability is the biggest downside of the KL. The TH especially is a very well thought out vehicle with surprising off-road skills.
And yes, many people have compared it to the Isuzu.

I cant say im a fan of the KL's but im not about to start bashing fellow jeep owners. Anyone that buys a jeep whether its a patriot, compass, liberty, or whatever is still supporting the brand. Im strictly a Cherokee/wrangler guy as most of us are but hey different strokes for different folks.

Good reads everyone, and thanks for making me feel slightly more welcome!
I was hesitant to join a Jeep forum because of exactly what this post was meant to curtail: the purists who harass anyone who doesn't drive their particular flavor of car. I'm happy with my choice and glad to be driving a Jeep finally. I know the style isn't for everyone (hell it took me awhile to love it), but it's exactly what I needed. The GC is huge and WAYY expensive, and I don't like the Compass/Patriots. So here I am :-)

Yes I can only imagine. It's that way with a lot of cars, though. Maybe not as in-your-face about it. I had a buddy who flipped out (and was in like company) when Honda redesigned the Accord (lol).
Thanks! I agree, I think it looks cool :-) Where's Eaton? Out east right?

No, I don't lick fish.
I have the most "base" model you can get. 4-cyl Trailhawk, no tech package, etc. Still was $29k, which is a big chunk more than the $22k I paid for my '08 Patriot with the FDII. But even in the base package, it's much more vehicle than the Patriot was.
And for off-road, it will never be able to be modified like a JK, so it is what it is. But it will surprise you.

This is the age where geeks run things. These new cherokees get it done with technology. Wheel brakes, torque transfer, gear reduction, hill descent.... sophistication. I do hate that it's primary drive mode is FWD, and I think that was the biggest slap in the face to cherokee owners.... but at the end of the day, you really have to hand it to jeep for making a vehicle that keeps up with the fuel-efficient demands of today that can still go off the beaten path and still HAVE FUN! Which is the whole point of the Jeep thing anyway.

I personally do not care for them at all. I can't stand the way they look but each their own. Like stated. People today aren't looking for an extreme offroad vehicles anymore. They do have some perks tho I guess. Good on gas, modern luxuries, 4wd in case you ever need to get out of a hairy situation. I personally will only own a solid axle 4wd vehicle but nobody thought the Prius would take off and now you see them everywhere

What's all the fuss guys? WTH, if it's rugged and dependable I think it at least deserves to be called "a Jeep". Now the guys who've been "Cherokee" die-hard's may not agree with calling the KL a Cherokee but you know, the whole country and our society is being more softened and emasculated by the day. Seems to be going in the trend of the feminization of the American male.

See, this is acceptable for an opinion unlike the usual "Oh its soo ugly" or "I hate Crossovers, should have bought an Xj". You just simply stated without bashing any member or their Jeep. Now if others would just be so considerate. (Not singling you out, just using yours as a more proper way to approach the situation)

I must respectfully disagree, people do like change because Jeeps (along with just about every other brand) is changing and you can bet a lot is a result of focus groups. Personally, I embrace change and really like my Trailhawk. The technology is evolving very fast, our rides are going to evolve as well. I'll always be a fan of the past jeeps but I'll adapt and drive on. What a lot of people forget is that despite what it looks like, a Jeep badge is still stuck to the body and our favorite brand continues to enjoy a lot of sales and growing fan base. Even the Renegade as a target audience, Generation Y (per the salesmen I spoke with this weekend). I'm going to enjoy my Trailhawk to the maximum of its abilities and hopefully pick up an older TJ or YJ this year for a dedicated trail rig. Just my 2 cents.
