From what I have seen that Trailhawk could hang just fine with most cherokee owners off road.........just saying.

So have fun with it and don't look back.

So you don't like how it works. Ok. It still functions as intended.

And like I said, if you get in a situation where tires are coming off the ground . The locker in the kl will allow it to keep moving, unlike the LSD in the xj.... Which will do like a LSD does when a tire comes up... Fail to keep moving.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still not sold on a kl. But id still place it as more capable out of the box than a stock xj

Not a big fan of the 2014s, it just has a really awkward design IMO. But I also don't really like most "SUVs" any manufacturer makes these days. But I won't be disrespectful towards the owners by calling it a POS or something stupid like that. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

The biggest problem I've seen so far is the MPG numbers people are claiming are not even close to what the sticker says. Seems they are getting only slightly better numbers than what our XJs are getting. It could just be a rocky launch. Just look how long it took for them to finally get to dealers to try and fix the issues with the 9-speed. I don't think Chrysler has fully fixed the issues, which is why people are getting such low MPG numbers. It could be something as simple as a software update to get the new Cherokee meeting their MPG goal.

It's just like any new model launch, the first ones are going to have bugs that need to be worked out.

And some of the problems it has are not exclusive to the new Cherokee. Somebody stated earlier radio issues. That is a common problem that I've seen on the Grand Cherokee as well as Ram trucks.

lol, All this debate.

Common sense says that a brand new 2001 bone stock Upcountry XJ would be left in the dust by a 2014 bone stock Trailhawk.

The only difference being the XJ owner didn't pay quite as much so he might not be as scared to accomplish the obstacle with a little momentum.

Common sense.

Just talk and show only the kl, there has yet to be a true head to head of a fully working top shape xj(reason being is dumb to compare a broken down rig to a brand new rig) against a kl making your statement invalid and misinformation

Wrong!

There are some off-road videos featuring the Trailhawk which are quite impressive.

I'll see if I can dig them up. I agree the standard road tests are quite boring.

I think it's funny to think in the ten years since the xj has been put out. They put out a new "Cherokee" while it may not be appealing, you think it's not better than 10 years ago? Were that ****ty as a society to not be able to produce something better in ten years lol. My money is for sure on the kl

Not disagreeing with the bugs that need to be worked out as it's fresh on the market. This whole thread is full of a lot of butt hurt xj owners.

Well after watching those videos, I'm not impressed. Those "trails" are so groomed, it hurt to watch. The rocky sections were as flat as possible, and they still needed a spotter? It had trouble going uphill, on a flat dirt road. Totally manufactured settings, real world trails are not going to be so forgiving. The one thing that they did get right however was calling it "the weasel"...because Jeep is trying to weasel this thing onto the market as a capable off road rig. In the other vid, with the guy from Jeep stating "it did Hell's Revenge in Moab, Utah, and it's a world famous trail", most cars can do that trail. Not very technical at all. I'll hold out to make a final judgement though, until we see some real world people on real world trails.

This vid can prove the merit of traction control.

Wrangler without traction control has hell climbing hill, Range Rover with traction control goes up with no problem.

Really embarrasses the Wrangler.

I'm thinking an XJ wouldn't do much better on that hill than the Wrangler, a KL with traction control might make it up about as easy as the Rover did.
