Default My 85 Cherokee w/motor rebuild & budget lift

Hello.

I just got my new 85 jeep Cherokee, well new to me. It was in good shape as you can see. But i still towed it home for 600 bucks. After I got it home i took a long look over everything and made a couple of choices. First was to pull up the auto and add a manual transmission. Then to rebuild the motor and carb.

so after i got it home and a couple of shots i pulled the hood to see what i was working with.

So after that i want to check ride height before i got into it. I know some where down the line i will lift her.
so i start to tear the transmission and the engine out. It was all easy going til we ran out of beer. here a shot with the motor in and the motor out. If you look at the transmission it has a manual now and no auto think god.

So after i pulled it out and got it on the stand i started with the cleaning of the motor and parts and writing down what i needed and what it needs to have done. Don't mind the Hammer it was just to get some parts off. LOL
This thing was dirty as hell. Took me 3 can of oven cleaner. lol
So after a day of cleaning everything and buying all kinds of new goodies for the motor new ring, bearings and seals and a couple more things i started getting it back together.
well, i did more just need to find the right camera with pictures. So keep coming by and i will so u the cheap 5 inch lift and the still have ton more fun in store for this one. MAYBE. no just kidding

Got anything You need to know ask I maybe able to help you out!

^Forgot to post.
Are you going to have the cylinders over-bored? Or at least checked for out of round and taper, and honed if within limits? Are you going for a stock rebuild or more performance? Just curious.
Nice looking Jeep and a good deal.

My 85 is a 2.5L as well, runs good for having over 130k on the ticker. Kind of a dog in 4H, but 4L it's a little peppy. Although, the 33's probably don't help at all!
