Hopefully getting into a 2000 Cherokee XJ
Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm located in eastern, Pa. I'm currently in the market for a Cherokee XJ. I found one local to me and I think it's a pretty good deal for the condition it is in. I checked it out and it's the cleanest XJ I have found so far. No rust on frame and engine is running smooth with no issues. https://allentown.craigslist.org/cto/5664699018.html
If you guys have any knowledge to pass on that would be awesome. I offered him $5500 for the jeep and he countered with $6000. If you think this is to expensive let me know. I'm willing to bargain more. Thanks

welcome fellow PAer to the forum!
Jeep looks clean from the pictures. I ran into the same thing when searching for mine on craigslist. You have people that will jack up the price because its "rust-free" and half the time you get under them they have rust.
As you said, you didnt find any rust. If i where buying an XJ again, i wouldn't pay that much. I picked up my 2001 with minimal rust for 4K w/ lift, tires, and off-road front bumper (has some rust on rear lower quarter panel). That being said, a car is only worth what you are willing to pay for it. If the XJ is worth 6000 to you, buy it. There may be better deals to be had though.
The 00-01 also suffer from a manufacturing defect where if overheated the head can crack between cylinder 3 and 4. Do your research on this before buying a 2000 or 2001 model year. just search the forum for "0331 head crack". That will get you down the right path.
