Hello from Mississippi
I've got a 90 xj, had it for 12 years. It came with a lift and I'm putting my 2nd set of tires on it. Went through a long period of time where I was able to and not interested in doing anything but routine maintenance. Well lots is wore/wearing out on it as I need new shocks, the lift is a little long in the tooth/rear seems to sag a little, just wear and tear.
So I'm slowly improving, upgrading, or renewing as I go. For some reason it's just hit me to 'fix it up' a bit. I've always loved her, she's my favorite vehicle ever. Got me into and out of some good fishing holes and tight spots in MS river bottom around Vicksburg MS for many years.
I'll have questions, already have been helped out a bunch by the forum as a lurker. One of the first things to do is to find out what lift package I have so I know how to upgrade it piece by piece. This month it was wheels & tires. Next month it's control arm bushings or control arms (hoping to get RC adjustables for when I go up with more lift). I have the paint on hand, one replacement fender and another ordered. After that it's on to replacing wore out shocks, stabilizer bar links, and steering damper. Just trying to tighten up the front end as upper and lower ball joints have been replaced as well as a few bushings. After that is rotors, pads, and replace old break lines with steel lines to firm up the pedal. Then .... shoo... I'll try to lift it up a little bit more/address the rear leaf springs followed by new bumpers & winch. Already looked into it an will add a Aussie Locker style locker to the front axle at some point. After that ... hopefully nothing is broke and I'll be done... for a while at least!
Anyhoo my name is Phillip, I live in N. Mississippi, moving to S. Mississippi this summer. Thanks for the help that is to come and I look forward to contributing.
