I'm still here. It's time to get one for your rig.

Seeing this thread made me want to post a picture of the ones you made for me a while back. So, I flipped through my phone of pictures I took of my Jeep within the last couple days. Zoomed in on the winch hook and... no strap. It must have gone missing on one of the last couple wheeling trips.

Sad day. Was a neat conversation piece.

How do these do in the sun?

I have a red one that came with my winch and it just disintegrates in the Florida sun.

It is going on 2 years that I have been making these with several hundred out there. I haven't received feedback from any customers concerning their strap falling apart from UV exposure. Early on, I used a polypropylene strap which didn't have as good as UV resistance but transitioned to nylon which overall stands up better to UV and other mechanical wear. After saying that, pretty much anything you hang off that winch hook will eventually wear out between the UV exposure and flapping around in the wind. I think that mine will stand up better than the ones that are supplied with winches because it is a thicker, stronger material, but I don't have any hard evidence to verify that.

Maybe someone will chime in here to let me know if I am way off base on this.

Mine has been on since mid-late 2013 and seems as strong as the day I got it. I got one that came with my winch that was not nearly as durable as this one, it was a thinner material and cheaply made.

I use a shackle instead of a hook, is the opening big enough for a standard 3/4 D-ring shackle?
