Default xj rear leafs?

i have a 96 xj. dana 44 up front and 9in in rear. 6.5in springs n front and has stock rear leafs with adjustable shackles. i thought about just buying 6.5in lift leafs but i would really like to move axle back. i read people run mj comanche leafs and shackle relocations kits. then i read people run s10 springs... ect.. whats the best leaf spring set up to run so i can move axle back and have good flex? if i had the money rite now id just 4 link it but i dont lol

How much do you want to move it back? Flipped XJ spings give a 6" stretch and YJ springs give a 3" stretch. If all you want is an inch or two you can use spring perches that have multiple mounting holes for the centering pin. You'll also need to move the gas tank and shock mounts as well as lengthen the drive shaft if you go more than 3", drive shaft if more than an inch depending on what type you're running.

What are you gaining by moving the axle back. I am just curious as I have never read about anyone wanting the xj axle further back.

4" will mean relocating the gas tank and cutting a good bit out of the rear fenders and redoing the wheel tubs. I've got about 2-2.5" on mine and it centered my wheels and didn't have to move the tank. My 60 clears by less than an inch. Also didn't have to change shock mounts with that much.

Better flex and droop. You are able to run leafs with less arch and gain more lift

Made my own custom spring perches that are a bit longer and offset. I used 2x2" hitch steel.

I found a set of 52in leaf springs that are supposed to be off of a k5 blazer. It has 7 leafs. How many do you think I should try running? 4-5?

On my last xj, I used ford explorer leafs out back. Gave me 4-5 inches of lift, 3 inch stretch, and are super long and flexy.

Used the stock from leaf mount, and built new shackle hangers.

Worked like a charm. I cant find any flex shots of the rear. This was about 3/4 flexed.
