How much water can the cowl dissipate?
Just a thought. How much water can the cowl stand to have poured over it without starting to flood?
If you were to submerge it obviously it would fill up, but it was just a thought. Anybody ever hydrolocked using a cowl intake?
Installing a cowl intake this weekend. Doubt it will ever be a problem. Everything else will likely start to fail if I ever got water over the hood.
Is there a ask a question thread in the Tech section. Couldn't find one.

You will never hydrolock and hurt your motor if you do not attempt to start it directly after drowning out.
If you drown out, once on high ground remove spark plugs and turn motor over after completely draining air box.

Same deal here I had to drill my spectre cowl intake pretty low to the bottom of my cowl panel. I got worried it'd suck in water since the opening is close. Right after I installed it all I fired it up, and used the garden hose to spray water over the cowl area as in a (super crazy) downpour. After a few min a opened up the intake and had no water

Pretty much what I figured. I don't really plan on trying to submarine my XJ. Usually I end up with mud filled filter trying to get through the mudded washed out rutted trails. No choice but to get some momentum on the way in.
Seems like a ingesting water at WOT. Would cause pretty good hydrolock and could bend a rod from the engine inertia.

with my cowel intake I had my filter resting on the heater vent intake witch put it about 1.5" above the bottom plate. Ran a pre-filter on it and never even got close to having water issues
