Default XJ Lift Problems

Recently put a Skyjacker 2" Spacer Lift Kit with Nitro Shocks on my XJ. I also purchased the Quadratec 15X8 Baja Xtreme Wheel on 31X10.50R15 Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ Tire. After trimming fenders the clearance is ok but the backend is still sitting low and the leaf springs are laying flat/almost negative. Everywhere I am reading is saying I should have gone 3".

Is there any creative solution to help?

Did the kit use shackles or an AAL?

You expected a 2" kit to give you 3"? Hope you like cutting because you'll be doing a lot of it to fit 31's. You got 2" coil spacers and 1 1/2" shackles. That is what it will go up.

I knew 2" would give me 2". bought 31's instead of 30's becuase of the deal I was getting on them. 30's would have been the wiser choice. Just looking for the least expensive way to increase the height in the back, i.e is there a spacer that would work? If I add a leaf will i have to get new shocks? I know I made the wrong choice on the tires, but I am stuck with them. Just looking for some guidance on a solution.

An add a leaf will be your best bet. It'll give you approx 2". Shock length should be fine as long as you don't go crazy. Blocks can be dangerous.

We welcome another nut to the nuthouse.

There are two different lengths. Get the long ones. And there is a front and back to those since it's not centered. I've used BDS for 8 years and those haven't had much for sag in this time. As far as others, I don't know. Maybe they come from the same bin.

Since your springs are already flat, just ditch them and go with a three inch lift set of full springs. Crazy waste to do add a leaf on busted springs. You can do a t case drop to offset the driveline and see how that works out. Any major brand will do. That will get you by till you wear out the tires or you might like that amount of lift and stay there. At three inches the only thing that might come up is longer brake lines if you start banging around off road.

You just want to confirm your part numbers so you will know for yourself what fits without relying on internet Jeep guys.

If your Springs are already flat in the back, a shackle lift won't help that issue. You might consider an AAL as some have mentioned or OEM spring packs to regain spring curve and get you to the height specified by your lift. I know before I lifted my XJ, the rear Springs sagged so much I was 2 inches below stock height.

An AAL set won't help you that much with your old leafs you need a full 3" lift kit with full coils/leafs/shocks/hardware, like from Rustys Off Road one of the only company's to have all American made springs/coils. The full lift kit with all I listed is $438 for the 3" kit. Then you will have what you need for a proper lift with quality components in it, the shocks in any of the kits are all entry level and can be improved later.

Something to note: When I bought my Rusty's lift, the leaves were actually stamped Canada. They may have changed their production location since then. Also, shipping for the 3" kit to my home in PA was an additional $120, ended up costing me almost $560.
