The WJ base won't bolt to the floor of the XJ without modification. Most people use the WJ seat on the XJ base, so you would still have the seat belt attached. I'm in the middle of this swap right now, but I have manual seats in my XJ and power seats from a 99 WJ. I'm trying to figure out the wiring for the recline motor built into the WJ seat and just use the manual XJ base for sliding back and forth.

I went the same, ZJ seats, might look to WJ seats for the next set, but I think something cloth is in my future. Leather and shorts in the heat don't really mix so well...

I much prefer cloth seats also, here on the beach.

Anyway, I think I have a clear road on the wiring (ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT), but, one of my main problems is the seat belt buckle. Currently the buckle is attached to the XJ seat frame which I have removed, no problem.... BUT.. the WJ seat frame does not come with the same angled piece of metal to anchor the buckle to (the WJ attaches the buckle to the tranny hump - dont know the techy word). How would someone attach the buckle to the side of the seat on the WJ seats if these are normaly mounted on the XJ seat frame? I hope my question is clear LOL..)

The picture is NOT my seat base, but, a great example of an XJ base with the buckle attached... How to make this happen on the WJ seat base? HEEEELLLLPPPP
are you going to use the xj seat track or wj? if you using wj track you can either drill new hole for the seat belt. also you can go to the jy and grab a zj track and swap a wj seats on it. zj track have seat belt buckle mount on the track. btw are you in park ridge, IL?

Using WJ everything, minus the rails and attacking seat belts to seats

http://www.wjjeeps.com/seats/seats.htm

Found this link while researching to do mine. I hope this helps. I have a 94 and have only done the drivers seat. I had to fabricate a bracket for it and cut up some of the original bracket to make it work.

Hope this helps.

i got rid of some stupid ghetto cheap very uncomfortable racing seats when i got my xj. junkyard had zj seats. rather clean and comfortable. had to swap rail things.
only downside is that they are too fluffy. cant fit yj/tj/ seat covers on them.
i have some real fancy rugged ridge seat covers but they barely fit.

I've read thru this thread and still not sure if I can use the wj seats in my 96 sport. Will the wj or zj seats bolt to my seat brackets? Have found a nice set from an 04 overland and would like to use them if they'll work.

If the front of your seat brackets mount to the hump on the floor (they should in a 1996) Then WJ and ZJ will fit right in. All you have to do is detach your sliders from your seats and attach the new seats to them. No modification required.

You are looking at 3 bolts and a nut to pull the entire XJ seat out, and then 4 bolts to detach/attach seat from sliders. Really easy!

If your current seats bolt straight through the flat floor, they wont work without modification (1995 down)
