Setting Up Gears
ok so im bout to order my 4.56 gears and i need to kn how to install/set up them the rite way.........thanks

You can screw alot up if set up just slightly wrong.
I am an experienced gear guy. Trust me.

i kn my way around a rear end for tha most part iv changed out my ring and pinion and carrier in my 93 F-150 and Bronco and they r still on tha road today with no problem's i just what to make sure i do my jeep rite bc it my baby LOL

That's is not totally true. I bought a set of 4:88 and put them in by my self with no experience. Make sure you have patients. And use the paint. It will show you where your gears hit. The more contact area you have the longer you gears will last and not howl. But also too much will cause resistance. put the gears in with stock shims. If they are not meshing enough add enough shims to make them mesh. If not add shims to get the desired result. remember you do not have to put the shafts in to mesh the gears. But also the pinion shims are a little harder. They must be torqued to spects. So that being said if the pinion shims are off you have to take it out and add or subtract accordingly.

just dive in and let me know how it works out. I felt awesome after my first setup. It gave me confidance to do anything to my heep.
