I wouldn't cheap out on a winch.

Get a warn m8000.
L&L fab winch bumpers are a good price..he is a vendor on here.

If you buy a winch without a fairlead you will want one.

Go for 8k. That's ideal.

Obviously more is better, but 8k is perfect.
I still say go with the warn m8000..hell amazon sometimes offers free shipping.

I have a M8000 and I have worked it like a rented mule and it asks for more. I've seen Smittybuilts and Milemarkers overheat in the time I used mine and they are much slower. No advice on bumpers, I made mine.

I have a rigidco fwb2k on my Xj it is held on by 26 grade 8 bolts and I run a Smittybilt xrc8 comp that has been a great little winch. I had a M8000 I let go when I sold my TJ. I will say the M8000 was a good winch but it Ate solnoids.

Guess I've been lucky almost 5 years and I'm still using the factory ones.

I have the smittybilt XRC bumper and have no complaints. Added an Engo 9k winch for ~$289. I had never heard of it before, but one of the off road magazines did a winch shoot out with 10 popular winches. The Engo was 1 of only 2 that made it through the test. I have beat the crap out of it and it has not let me down yet. Only complaint I have is that the cable is not attached to the drum very well, not a problem if you keep the recommended 8 wraps on it at all times though.

I would have bought the Engo winch if I hadn't found a used older Ramsey on Craigslist. The Ramsey I got only pulls 280 amps at full load so it works better for my receiver mount system (easier to get power to the back). New ones pull well over 300A so I grabbed the older one while I could. Not to mention it wasn't a bad deal either. I don't know if I buy into the Warn band wagon. Lots of people swear by them, but I've also read a LOT of complaints about people having to fix solenoids and other stuff on them. They are way over priced in my opinion. Smittybuilt winches get just as much praise as the Warns, but they are less than half the price.

There is a vendor in the Vendor Section offering an 8.5k winch for $250 shipped. A lot of the cheaper winches use the same internal components, and really how often will you use one?

Browse Amazon for deals and read the reviews. Free shipping can be had on just about any winch regardless of brand. Find one you like and if it isn't free on Amazon then Google the part number and you'll find a site offering free shipping.

Side note: Almost all of the free shipping on Amazon is for prime accounts. They're well worth the investment if you do lots of online ordering. If you have an .edu email you can get it free for 6 months too then $35/year after that. Free 2 day shipping and $8 Saturday delivery is great.

So people are only allowed to purchase from forum vendors and no where else? A deal is a deal and there are lots out there. Limiting a person to one specific item is silly.

People can buy whatever they want, where ever they want.

There also welcome to support the vendors that go out of their way to help forums like this one and forum members such as yourself.

They are welcome use the discounts that are freely given by vendors on this and other forums.

They are free to contact the vendors here and get questions answered personally, even on weekends when they least expect it.

So, sure you can go and save a few bucks buying a new, or refurb'd, or grey-market product from Amazon. Knock yourself out.
