imo, herc is at the bottom of the list when it comes to overall quality.
DIY products like raptor have a much better texture, and UV resistance, and the strength really depends on coats and prep
me personally, on this XJ ive just used the rustoleum roll on liner for my floorboards and the outside of the jeep. but i dont roll it on, i spray it through an undercoating gun instead. and its cheap enough that i can put a ton of coats. (not saying its the best, just what i used this time)

Smooth finish
-do your base coat as normal with a slow pace that starts before the piece and finished after it, however you dont want it so slow that you get runs
-followed by how ever many coats you want, at a little faster pace until you get desired thickness. faster your passes the more texture so keep it slow and smooth.
Rough finish
-do your base coat same as above
-lay down enough coats for desired thickness
-then to get your texture bring your spray back[farther from the piece] and mist it till you get the desired texture, the more you mist the rougher it will become.
and if the paint from someone elses car simply rubs of your bedliner that aint right its supposed to be texured, if you want a hard smooth finish you should use chassis/grillgaurd paint as its a paint with a harder finish thats ment to go on smooth, its also cheaper[ and cheaper price doesnt alway mean cheaper quality as some seem to think around here]....they changed all their labels but im pretty sure this is it for those who may be unsure what im talking bout http://www.plastikote.com/products/S...ard-Paint.html

I used the Plastikote on my 92 it held up great for 2 years of mud and sand.( then i sold it) And it was really cheap. Its all in how you prep your surfaces.

Heat
You're looking at two very different products here, and very different costs. Line-X, Rhino, etc are very good products, very tough, and very expensive compared to a DIY kit product.
I've done several vehicles with Herculiner, and liked it. It's a bit grippy, and will get dirty, but you can wash it out. I only bought it when the gallon kits were on sale with the rebate, the last one I bought I think was like $60. There are several similar products out there now too.
I think the next time I do mine I'm going to try Durabak. To my understanding, it is teh same product as Herculiner (and also available without the rubber granules for a smoother finish) and comes in a lot of different colors. It's marketed as an industrial coating, but the same stuff. Worth a look.
