trying to order shocks
Ok, so I measured my ride height of the shocks, 18 inch front 18.5 rear, Then measured my bump stops to get collapsed measurement of 14.5 front 14 rear... Called IRO to order some white body shocks because I cannot afford bilstiens and they are trying to get me to order 2" lift shocks, which is what I have now and they only allow 2" down travel.... I have 4.5 inch front springs and about 5" lift in the back... Wth, the guy told me I'm trying to order what my old shocks are and I explained to him this is my collapsed I need extended as long as possible and that collapsed am I crazy?

My ride height of the shock at rest is 18.5 in the front and 19 in the rear... Sooo most any lift shock I am seeing for 4.5 inch lift is listing 19inch as collapsed...... I've got to be doing something wrong here someone shout out

so let me get this straight.. your shocks have only 6" of travel? You need to measure extended and collapsed, not ride height and bump stop distance. Take shocks off and flex to get the extended distance you need.

Measuring does the same thing but faster and easier. You'll never find anything that small look for like a 15" collapsed 25" extended. Are you sure on this because I have 21.5" at ride height with stem and bar pin eliminators up front with a 5.5" lift

Yes I am sure but I can triple check myself tonight, and also yes with a 4.5 inch lift on it now ( at least that's what the guy said he sold me for front springs) I have about 2 inches down travel with my current shocks, I have not compressed them but they will compress further than the jeep will because of them being for a 2 inch lift...

You cant guess what lift you have you need to measure that and your collapsed and extended lengths you need. It doesnt matter what the advertised lift height recommendation is

I can tell you collapsed from measuring alone ride height of shock minus up travel until it hits bumpstops
I don't have a good way to flex it at home and no tag on it yet...

Ok I was crazy, 19 inch ride height front 3 inch up travel so 16 collapsed I can add another, inch to bump stops for 17 collapsed
Rear is 20 ride and 4 inch up travel for the same 16 compressed, and same I can add an inch bumpstop for 17 any suggestions

its gonna be hard to help you as you need to measure collapse and extended lengths not ride height bumpstops smoosh a bit so your measurements now will be wrong,

Yes. One of the benefits are they give you more travel. Say your standard shock is 25" overall and it has 10" of travel. The remote reservoir would have 12" of travel and not be any longer (just for example)
