Default trimming fenders what to do with the liner

Hey guys so Im looking to trim my fenders as one of them popped off when wheeling and I was wondering what do you guys do with the wheel under liner. Do you just take it all off or should I just trim it so it does not stick out?

Junk it. Fill the small area around pinch weld with spray foam insulation to prevent dirt and mud from getting jammed in and spray black bedliner over it. Done!

Ooo ok sweet thanks. Im also wondering about cutting bumpers and how low i should go with fender trimning. Do i cut all the way down by the rocker panels?

I can take some pics abou the areas i have questions on.

For the front bumper im not worried as ima change it to an offroad one.

Main concern is the back bumper and how low i should go when trimming the fenders. If you guys have pics that be awesome.

Just trying to get some advice before i start, already read up on most of this stuff but still trying to see how others do it.

Thanks everyone!

You can use this as a guide for the rears. There are lots of how-to on the various forums but basically come down to this. Do NOT cut through the pinch welds when trimming the rear fenders.. you'll hate yourself.

Also, I highly recommend Eric Zappe's XJ book. Fender trim instructions are in there as well. It's in my catalog from Quadratec but I'm not seeing it on their website. Look around, they should be out there. It will answer many of the questions often asked on the forums and you'll always have it for reference. I think he's coming out with a new, upgraded edition soon as well.
