Default Track Bar Recommendations

Anybody got some comments for an aftermarket track bar for an '01 with a 3"? It appears I've got some lock-to-lock rubbing on the right side only, and figured this would correct the problem. As this is my first Jeep Cherokee (and I may have to get rid of my house to support it), I'm clueless. Is it a lower arm problem? I'm only running 31's, so should this be an issue? Cheap fixes? I've heard spacers work, but am not too fond of that idea. Would prefer to do it right. Thanks for the input from you experience owners.

Do you wheel hard or just crawl malls?

I am fond of double shear type of track bars.

Default track bar problem?

Wife mall crawls. I hunt, so the Jeep sees some major mud, snow, and the occasional rock, tree, etc. I think I'm rubbing on the lower control arm but am not certain. Running factory mags. Always heard that spacers were not the way to go, and money is tight so new rims are out of the question. But I'll do the spacers to solve the problem if that's what it is.

Spacers are about the same as some cheap black steelies with the correct back spacing.spacers are a weak point also.

Stock wheel spacing keeps the tire in the wheel-well and inboard of the fender flares. By adding spacers the tire may rub on the flares.

If you are just rubbing the LCA's then try adjusting the 'steering stop' bolts first, located on front of steering knuckles. The nuts are spot welded, remove the bolt and install small washers behind nut.

Here are offbrand hub-centric/wheel-centric spacers. Spidertrax is the top brand for spacers. They are the only one I know of that uses heat treatment for added strength.

Default track bar recommendations

Thanks folks for all the help. Reason I thought it was track bar is that's what the local garage said. I'll try backing off the stops first. Want to replace the tb anyway with the double tb, but that's on hold till they let me give more blood.

I think I missed the fact that the tire rub is on one side only.
At 3" lift and stock track-bar, the axle will be shifted to the side.
An adjustable track bar or relocation bracket (band-aid) will center the axle. Then it may not rub at all.

Yea 3" of lift seems to be the point where things start moving around. Personally I feel the stock track bar out lasts the after market ones. However with a lot of lift I realize a stock one won't work.

My IRO adjustable bar with double shear bracket has not let me down yet!

As far as rubbing the control arms, look into adjusting your steering stops

On my 2000 the steering stops are welded from the factory. No adjusting.

My bracket liked to come loose before I welded one side to my stiffeners and the bushings are junk. 3rd set in less than 2 years.

No they're not. Put a wrench on them and they'll thread out of the knuckle. Unless you welded them on.
