Default Steering question

So I plan on lifting my XJ about 4.5 to 5 inches, and I've seen some stuff about new steering...I'm kinda new to this stuff so, what all do you change to have better steering when you lift it?

You'll probably be okay with a dropped pitman arm. Some might recommend a ZJ tie rod if you plan on doing some good wheelin.

At the lift you want is about the point where the stock draglink is at it's limit. At the very least I would recommend some sort of aftermarket steering, maybe WJ steering to get bigger/better brakes along with a better steering setup. Not sure how big you are planning on going tire-wise, but WJ brakes, or even black magic brakes will be a huge help over stock setup.
If you can weld, I would look into ruffstuff for your steering and even other bits that you may want.

At least do the mid 90's V-8 GC tie rod setup 10 x stronger than stock, under a $100 using Moog parts got mine from AutoZone there brand the better ones. I have a 4 1/2" lift and 33x12:50x15 tires and that is what I'm running for the last 1 1/2 yrs. mostly all off road.

Only if you like bump-steer, should you use a drop pitman arm.

actually it's one of my favorites.

But for real, it's a cheaper band aid compared to a full high steer conversion.
