I have a tranny drop kit on xj

Opinions, not sure whether to get shims and do them with drop kit or
Remove kit put tranny back up and go for re measure and get more ground clearance, but install larger shims, the latter seams better idea but will I be able to get rid of vibes with 4.5" lift with shims only ???
SYE is the end all answer to this at that lift height.
Take a look at that picture, the bottom is which you most likely have, and is what you need to accomplish for minimal vibes. Doubt you will be vibration free without an sye though.

I know a SYE is the answer, this is a budget build so no cash for new prop and SYE, just wondering if I could get the joint parallel with shims at this lift or if it's out of spec for the UJ's.
Worse case I get some 4 degree shims and keep the drop kit on
FWIW - I have a 3" lift. I first installed a 1" transfer case drop...but still had vibes. And the transfer case drop tweaks your rubber mounts. So I threw a dart and bought some 4 deg shims, removed Xfer case drop and installed these. Had more vibes.
Then I made a device to accurately measure my pinion angle, and measured a 2 degree difference from the transfer case (with the 4* shims installed). So I installed some 2* shims and now the pinion angle is within 0.2* of Xfer case. Close enough for me.

You will never entirely remove the vibes, you may think you did but untill you go sye you will be amazed at how much smoother it really is.
I'm confused as heck. In one post you read trans and pinion need to be parallel. In another it says the pinion should point directly at the xfer case.
I have a RC 3" with leaf pack installed. I picked up vibrations and decel chatter (for lack of better explanation). Rc leafs came with angled base already mounted..

JPX- take a closer look at the above diagram.... you must determine which drive shaft you have to understand which diagram to follow. If you do not have a CV joint on the drive shaft then the lower diagram is the one to follow,,, no confusion, the transmission and pumpkin should be parallel
