Default Rough country full leaf pack vs add a leaf?

looks like im placing an order for a 4.5" long arm kit tomorow. for only $100 i get a full leaf pack instead of just an AAL.

rough country full packs a good ride and still limit axle wrap?

I dont know about ride, but I would go full leafs for sure. unless your leafs are in GREAT condition, but it still wouldnt ride the same with the AAL compared to a full pack. for 100 I would do it... its usually like a 200+ upgrade.

full pack no question.

as far as i know thier 6.5 kit is just the 4.5'' leafs with thier extended shackle.

I'd ditch the shackle and get the relocation, youll need it. The shackle angle with the 4.5 leafs is 100% in the wrong direction. I have them and my shackle is all the way to the front against the mount. (no miles driven still new)

I had the basic RC 3" AAL. While it rode ok it was not very flexy in the rear... but then again most leaf springs with stock shackles are not anyways... biggest problem was the 120° shackle angle... lol

when first installed it was close to 3.75" in the rear, when it settled it was 3.25" in the rear

here is my setup now...

ride is smooth... flex is good...

- RC 4.5" front coil (actual almost 5.5")
- RC 3" AAL
- RC 1.5" shackle
- home made shackle relocation box for a 45° resting shackle angle
-JK front upper and lower control arms with adjustable frame mounts

it rides and flexes GREAT now

http://s1223.photobucket.com/albums/...ce/flexinITup/

that being said I would still go with the full pack for only $100 more... see if you can get the 3" leaf pack in the rear with the 1 - 1.5" adjustable shackle then build or buy a relocation box

the kit on rough country's website shows a picture of a shackle.
Can't really tell from the picture but it's a long shackle

this one? http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_4xla.html

yeah they are giving you:
- 4.5" front coil spring
- 3" AAL and 1.5" shackle

BUT if you upgrade to a full leaf spring setup you loose the shackle and they give you a full 4.5" leaf...

it will not flex as well as a 3" and a 1.5" shackle...

talk to the guys at RC and see if they can do a full 3" leaf pack and a 1.5" shackle. Then purchase or make an relocation bracket

3'' leaf pack plus 1.5 shackle = 4.5 + relocation will be 6''+ lift

MAYBE Grimus (jason) would do it... i talked to Todd up there several times and I wanted the 4.5X series kit, but I wanted 3" leaves and the shackle instead of that... literally begged them to do the swap and I was told no, its a liability issue... WTF. They lost a 900 dollar sale because of that. I ended up only spending about 200 with them on shocks and other crap with my lift.. spent most of my money with FrankZ on here and went Rubicon Express... it actually worked out for the best!

Yeah Jason did that for me. I had a 3" already and did the 4.5" x series kit but instead of the 4.5" leaves I got their shackle cost around $600 after everything

depends on a lot of things... I run a 3" pack (3.25" actual), RC 1.5" shackle, and a home made relocation box... I set mine up where I gained around .25" from the relocation boxes... I have seen some guys that had a 90° shackle angle, then they set it up to be 45° and they LOOSE 0.5"

people always assume that relocation boxes will always gain height... but that is NOT always the case

My RC 4.5 inch leafs are too short making my xj ride like a tank. My shackle should be 45 degree towards the rear, its about 35 degree forward. I called RC and they said when it settles it will be better, but its been well over a year. If your set on your kit I would save your $100, and buy a different set of leafs. Or your going to have to buy there shackle correction kit and go even higher on your lift.
