Kinda leaning towards a Spartan Locker if I don't go with a Detroit Locker. Any word on how stock 8¼ axle shafts hold up locked on 31s?

I've been running stock 35 shafts on 2 different jeeps with 31s, and I've had no issues in the last 10 yrs I been running them

and everyone says d35s are the weakest of all

I got away with 33s on a stock Dana 35 that had a loose pinion bearing for like 4 or 5 years before it broke some teeth off the ring gear leaving my drive way lol

He'll with that line of thinking swap in a Dana 44 or dana60. Its the stronger better axle lol

If everyone had money to do it right the first time then Rough Country, Rustys, etc would be out of business..

Although I do agree on lunchbox upfront instead though.

I found out early in life I was to poor to buy cheap, it cost me to much lol.

I run stock 29 spline axles with my 35" tires no problems but do carry spares.

I vote Aussie, I can't tell mine is in the rear until super tight turns when it clicks or low turns in 4lo and of course when wheeling. I've had a few in my club have spartan lockers give out on them with trailer rigs but no issues with Aussie. Plus Aussie has a great customer service team that's always on forums for any questions.

The Spartans are a little noisy when they unlock, and lock back up, but nothing like the Lockrite I had in a '92 YJ. That thing sounded like a bomb going off in my diff!
I have a lockrite up front and a Detroit in the rear of mine. My Detroit is very loud when backing up and turning, like a parking spot. Lockrite is not too noisy for me

Tru-trac is a great way go front and rear, unless you plan on a lot of rock crawling that is were the lockers work best . Daily driving there is no affect on gas mileage. Off roading in mud/ snowing sand and rutty uneven terrain even over rocky terrain is where TruTrac shines. They are bulletproof and there is nothing to wear out or break. Totally mechanical .no wearable parts Smooth and quiet operation Steel case for maximum durability Maintenance free other then changing oil . If you shop around one can be had for under 600.00 for then 8.25 and 400.00 for the d-30 .

Spartans are nice. They're definitely the easiest to install.
