Questions about running an SYE

Thanks guys! That's a good rule of thumb for tools.
I guess my last couple question are, what's considered a quality set of lock ring pliers? And, do I need both snap ring and lock ring pliers for the job?
I was looking at the advanced adapters SYE too. Sounds like the best one around.
I'll be sure to watch videos and read write-ups a million times over before I start the job.

Double check what you have before ordering!

I had a harbor freight set of snap ring pliers and they...worked. I bought them for the SYE so I only needed then for that. The LOCK ring pliers I got at pep boys for $20. You get what you pay for. The pep boys lock ring pliers seem quality enough to me.

Certain tools from cheap sources are fine...snap/lock ring pliers, channel locks, vice grips, things of that nature, buy the real deal. Use one, then the other, and you'll understand. One time use might work okay...but if I'm gonna spend the money on a tool I need to work properly, I'll spend the coin.

I'm running AA's sye mostly due to the fact that it was/is so highly recommended by others who are running it and the fact that they aren't the new kids on the block; they have an immpeccable reputation for their quality. Those 2 things factored in to my decision more than any others.
While you're in your tc, be sure and inspect your chain and other parts for abnormal/excessive wear. It would be easier to replace while you're in there than to tear it back apart at a later date. My np231 was/is in excellent shape at the time and all I needed, thankfully, were the shift fork pads replaced. Got mine at the local Dodge dealer and they're inexpensive.
Good luck and enjoy!

Thanks again!
Can just lock ring pliers get the job done, or do I need both those and snap ring pliers? I didn't catch that anyone answered that.
But again, much appreciated guys!
Edit: "I didn't catch that anyone answered that." After reading that, I feel like I sound like a dick. Don't mean to come off that way.
