Push button start
Ok I'm looking to do a push button start on my 97 sport. I searched the forums looking for a post on it and none of them were clear. Is there a plug and play i can buy? Someone please school me on it

About as plug and play as you can get:
Find the small wire on the starter, attach new wire onto starter, 10 gauge is fine.
Run the new wire to one side of a momentary switch. Take the other side of the momentary switch to a 12 volt (+) hot feed.
If the key is in the run position, push the switch and the jeep should start.
There are many variations on this. Tell me what you are trying to accomplish and I will advise.

I'm not super familiar with this, but I remember talk of maybe needing a separate kill switch. A hidden one you know about.
But seriously, use that little button called search. You aren't the only one to ask this, other threads exist about this specific question!

Run a wire from the multipurpose relay (or whatever they call it, ignition relay maybe?, it's the relay under the hood with like 20 wires going to it) to a horn switch (push on and has a spring to push it off) back to the starter. This will only work with the key to the on position but the key will not start the Jeep anymore.

"use the little button search" Please I have read them they are all unclear. It seems when someone asks a ? someone like you says that. If you think about it almost every new post everyday has been covered one time or another. But thanks

This is. Forum, not a free shop. You aren't always gonna get all the I.formation you want or need spoon fed to you.
I ran a search, and found plenty of good information. Others here have posted directions on how to wire up the button. What more do you want?

If you want to do something, and do the research and still don't understand.. Then, that is something you probably shouldn't do.
If you read these forums Just a little you find that most posts are by people who who screwed something up because they didn't understand the HOW or WHY of modifications.
Push button is a basic mod. All you are doing is substituting 1 switch for another. Hardest part is determining the proper wire to cut, or splice into, and where to mount the new switch. If you insert a momentary switch into the circut between the ignition switch and the starter. It will not start with the key, unless the button is pushed at the same time.

It will not start with the key, if you follow my directions. The wire I told you to replace, comes from the key switch (via some safety issues, and a few relays). It can be made to work either way, ala Charter Buses, that have a start run switch in the rear engine compartment, and then a key on the dash.
